Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs do not cease to exist because they are ignored. -- Aldous Huxley

What's the best way to get in touch with you?

I'm a big fan of email and will usually respond quickly. I'm also available to chat on Google or Skype and once we start working together I'll share my phone number.

Are you expensive?

I think my prices are pretty reasonable but I don't doubt you can find someone to do your work for less. Even if you don't go with me I urge you to not just look for a bargain. It will cost you more to have to find a pricier but more skilled freelancer to fix what had been done on the cheap.

It looks like you can do some of the work I need, but not all of it. Do you work with anyone else?

I work with a number of other freelancers so if there is something I can't do then I'll subcontract the work to someone I trust to give the same quality product as mine.

I've needed this yesterday! Can you help?!?

I wouldn't be much of a ninja if I couldn't make things appear out of thin air. Yes, I can handle tight deadlines and if I can't make the deadline I'll be upfront about it.

How many projects do you work on at once?

Unless a project comes up that needs an immediate turn-around you will be my only client during the time we are working together. When I work on a project I get into a "we" headspace--I feel invested. This allows me to work passionately on your job without distraction.

Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

I generally prefer to work by the hour with an agreed check-in threshold. In other words I might estimate that a project would take 10-20 hours. Rather than calculating a project rate based on that I would negotiate an hourly rate and let you know when I am approaching it. We can then decide whether I should find a stopping point or if we should extend. I will set up a time tracking app so you know that I'm not cruising Facebook on your dime (unless I'm doing Facebook research, of course).

What timezone do you work in?

I live in NYC but I can structure my time so that we can keep in regular contact for the most part.

How do you take payment?

I'm pretty flexible and can take a check, QuickPay, PayPal, or Venmo.
